A 'switch' is available to all those who currently have a private medical insurance policy. In theory, this means that conditions that you are currently covered for, and excluded from, in your existing policy should be carried forward onto your new policy. You will have the option to switch to Aviva (formerly Norwich Union), VitalityHealth, WPA, SimplyHealth, AXA and more depending on which insurer best suits your personal requirements.
If you already have a policy in place and have been on continuous cover for a number of years, or developed conditions and/or claimed whilst being covered, it would be in your best interest to consider switching. If you were to proceed on New Business terms; i.e. Moratorium or Full Medical Underwriting, conditions that are currently covered on your existing policy may potentially be excluded from cover on a new policy.
If you decide to switch, you will be sent a 'letter of appointment' along with your application form. This will authorise us to act on your behalf to cancel your existing policy and transfer your underwriting terms to your new insurer. If you go ahead with the switch, all you will need to do is cancel the direct debit for your old policy.
